Chatfé is a place for you to...
- ... serendipitously meet others who share common interests
- ... be introduced to new ideas
- ... share some joy
- ... and just tell someone something, whenever you want!
Chatfé is for everyone, including entrepreneurs, students, artists, club-crawlers, sports-lovers, and language learners, looking to talk about different topics. People who use Chatfé include friendly people who want to be connected to like-minded individuals or who want invigorating debates with those who disagree with them. We think our users are fun, curious, and of course, talkative.
Currently, Chatfé does not post profiles or pictures of users. Through our voice-centric design, we help our users enrich their lives through meaningful and personal connections, not superficiality.
Chatfé is different from any other service you've used. Really, it's true!
- With Chatfé you don't write (much)
- ...You talk
- You don't connect to existing friends
- ...You get to know new friends by talking to them
- You don't make calls
- ...You receive calls
- After you sign up with us, you express interest in a conversation by adding topics to your conversation queue, either by posting a new topic or clicking on existing ones.
- You add time to express how long you are available for.
- Then, Chatfé calls you and another user and connects the two of you to have the conversation.
Micro-interests?
That's our term for anything that can start a brief conversation in Chatfé.
Chatfé users might not want to blog about it or research it, but as a brief conversation topic, it's just fine.
On a human scale, voice conversations are a lot closer to a personal interaction with your fellow man or woman than IM, email, blog posts, etc. Yet, since Chatfé connects people privately, it is a way to safely talk about your micro-interests.
How is Chatfé pronounced?
Chatfé is pronounced "Chat-Fay." We like the accent on the é. As for why we chose the name, Chatfé is a portmanteau which combines Chat and Café. Get it?What if you had a really good talk and you want to reconnect with the same person again?
We're working on this. Eventually, if both of you agree, you can link to each other and more easily connect again.
What if the person you just spoke to is very rude?
If that happens, you can express your dislike here. Everyone may have a bad day once in a while but if that user gets more than a few strikes, they're out of here.
How do we support ourselves?
Currently, we accept support on a pay-what-you-wish model. We're also working on a few paid services.
Want to record hold music for us? Have a song that would really fit?
We'll consider it. Just remember the song has to sound good if it's only heard for 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, or however long a user may be on hold. You can submit your sample here. And let us know if there's a spot we can go to listen to you play.
Want to record some voice prompts for us? Have a nice voice?
Again, we'll consider it. Submit a sample .wav file here. Make it brief, very clearly enunciated, and something that we could conceivably play in a voice prompt. If we select your voice we may contact you to record more specific phrases.
Suggestions please!
You can submit them here. And we do read them. We'll post some of the good ones, if you don't mind, so you can see what's already been suggested.
Share your experiences on Chatfé with us:
We'd love to hear about them! By all means send us your stories and we'll post the ones we like best.
If we didn't get back to you yet...
We're on it! We're not ignoring you. Probably, we haven't gotten to it yet because we're working around the clock.
